Himalayan Salt and Its Use

Himalayan salt is known by many names: gray, blue, white, pink, cinnamon, and a host of other ones. Himalayan salt, as the name implies, is derived from Himalayan mountains and is mined in the area of Nepal. Himalayan salt crystals are transparent and have the ability to capture the color of any light that passes through them.

These crystals reflect all forms of light, which makes it possible for the minerals that they contain to absorb other colors. Thus, Himalayan salt is called a "colorless salt" because it can absorb colors like yellow, red, and blue.

While the stones are produced naturally in the area, they can be mined to obtain some additional minerals such as lithium and manganese. These minerals enhance the qualities of the salt and make it valuable as a health supplement, having antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and skin softening properties.

Himalayan salt can also be processed in order to produce the desired color. These salts are reduced using potassium chloride, a salt made from potassium chloride and sodium chloride.

Potassium chloride is an oxidizer, meaning that it will react with any body metals in the body to form a less toxic substance. This method of reducing salt is known as hyperpolarization, and this method of processing can cause allergic reactions. In fact, as a result of this, potassium chloride is now considered to be toxic to humans.

Hiring a third party to reduce the salt helps to minimize this reaction, although some individuals still have issues. Sodium chloride can be used, but it must be reduced at a higher rate than potassium chloride to reduce its toxicity.

Manganese chloride is less toxic salt, although still is considered to be toxic to humans. This is because of its reaction with calcium. Thus, it should be treated with caution.

Manganese chloride can be combined with any other salt to help reduce the chemical reaction. However, it is not advisable to use it alone because it causes a chemical reaction.

Kalium chloride is also considered toxic, and this should be treated in the same way as potassium chloride. However, this method is not as common as potassium chloride, so it is usually not found in most health stores.

Manganese chloride is the best salt to use in order to reduce any reactions that may occur with any of the manganese salts available. It is not recommended to use other salts due to the chemical reaction it causes with any of the manganese salts available.

Pink Himalayan salt is made up of thousands of tiny crystals that are slightly transparent and highly colored when pure. These crystals are translucent and provide the user with a rich orange or yellow color.
